Brides, let’s be real, dress shopping is magical, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming. To help you enjoy the process (and keep it stress-free), here are our best do’s and don’ts:

The “Real Talk”
Do’s & Don’ts of Dress Shopping Nobody Tells You
Do:
Do eat before your appointment. Shopping on an empty stomach is a bad idea.
Do tell your stylist what you don’t want. Boundaries are just as helpful as inspiration.
Do take photos if allowed. They’re memory joggers when emotions are high.
Do let yourself be surprised. Your dream dress might come out of left field.
Don’t:
Don’t bring your whole bridal party. Too many cooks = chaos.
Don’t get hung up on trends. Your wedding is about you, not TikTok.
Don’t second guess once you’ve said yes. Trust yourself!
Don’t assume accessories are an afterthought. Veils and jewelry can change the entire look.
The Emotional Prep
Do’s & Don’ts for Stress-Free Dress Shopping
Do:
Do take a deep breath and remember it’s supposed to be fun.
Do keep an open heart. Tears don’t always equal “the one.” Sometimes joy looks like a huge smile instead.
Do bring someone who hypes you up, not someone who picks you apart.
Do trust the process. We’ve done this a thousand times, we’ll guide you.
Don’t:
Don’t try to “fix” your body before the appointment. Your body is already worthy of the dress.
Don’t wait for everyone’s approval. This is your dress, your day.
Don’t assume every dress will feel comfortable right away. Alterations make it yours.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s what we’re here for.
The Practical Prep
Do’s & Don’ts for a Smooth Appointment
Do:
Do schedule early in the day for the best energy and focus.
Do bring heels close to your wedding height.
Do ask about timelines, rush options, and alterations up front.
Do budget for accessories, you’ll want them!
Do come wedding ready! You'll feel better with your hair done and a little bit of makeup on!
Don’t:
Don’t wear heavy makeup that could transfer onto gowns.
Don’t assume you’ll need to shop multiple times. You might find it on your first try.
Don’t forget to hydrate. It helps you feel your best.
Don't schedule multiple appointments back to back. You will get burnt out.
Don’t ignore how you feel sitting, walking, and dancing in the gown.
At the end of the day, dress shopping is about more than finding a dress. It's about finding your dress. Trust yourself, enjoy the moment, and let us take care of the rest. We can't wait to celebrate this season with you at Something Blue!!💙
