When people ask what we do at Something Blue, we love pulling out examples like this wedding. It’s not just about setting out a few centerpieces, it’s about turning the completely unexpected into the completely unforgettable!!
Let us show you what we mean!!
The "Before"
When this bride and her family first mentioned the venue, they said, “Well, it’s just a shed.” And she wasn’t exaggerating. It really was the family’s working farm shop. The kind of place where tractors get tuned up, planters get parked for the season, and bolts on the floor are a daily occurrence. Concrete floors, corrugated steel walls, shelves of tools.
But here’s the thing: this wasn’t just a shop. It was on her family’s land. Land that she grew up on. Land she now contributes to as she continues the farming legacy herself. That story, that connection, is what made transforming this space into a wedding venue even more special!
And honestly? That’s our sweet spot. We love when couples say, “Can you really make this into a wedding venue?” Our answer is always, “Challenge accepted.”

The "During"
Every transformation has its behind-the-scenes story, and this one started long before the candles were lit.
We kicked things off with a consultation meeting to hear the couple’s vision and talk through the possibilities. The bride’s family made it clear, they wanted this wedding in their shop, on their land, surrounded by the legacy of their farm. That made our job even more meaningful, because it wasn’t just about decorating a space, it was about honoring their story.
Next came a site visit. We walked the shop floor, took measurements, studied lighting, and started mapping out how to soften the industrial feel without hiding its roots. It was all about leaning into the family’s farming background while still creating something romantic and unforgettable.
When the big week arrived, our team rolled in early to start the transformation. Tables were set, chairs were stacked, and the blank shop slowly became our canvas. Piece by piece, we layered in linens, lace, florals, and candlelight. String lights went up, vintage doors were hauled in, and every little detail found its place!!
Watching the space shift from “just a shed” into a warm, glowing celebration was one of those goosebump moments. The kind of moments we live for!!
The bride even insisted on driving the skid loader to help set up chairs! I mean it doesn't get more awesome than that!
The "After!"
Fast forward to the wedding day, and you’d never guess this was once a shop floor. Soft candlelight glowed from every table. String lights draped from tall wooden frames, creating a canopy of warmth over long banquet-style seating. We layered textures like burlap, lace, wood slices, and vintage brass candlesticks. These gave it that rustic depth without losing elegance. Pink and blush florals paired with greenery added that soft romantic touch against the raw backdrop of steel walls.
The sweetheart table stole the show: framed by vintage white doors, overflowing with florals, and lit by tall taper candles, it created a stunning focal point that made the couple feel like the stars of their own set.
And those tables? Every detail mattered. From lace runners with clusters of blooms and candlelight, to round tables with centerpieces that blended rustic and refined, the whole room felt intentional. To top it all off, Suzy built a custom bar for the reception, turning rough lumber into a functional (and gorgeous) focal point that kept the drinks flowing all night long!
It wasn’t just decorated, it was transformed!!
The ceremony took place right on their property, with the family’s farmland as the backdrop. It couldn’t have been more perfect!
